Default Green Items

Ok i jus dont understand it. people are buying and selling green items all over the place now for 50k+ all over the place. Why dont these buyers just wait a week for about a million greens of the exact same quality so appear on the market for 2k each or less? i mean, sorrow's furace is a neverending vault of green items. the prices will plummet wont they?
srry if this post makes your head spin im in a hurry.

50k +...
better sell mine then.

seriously though. people are paying a lot because they want them NOW and don't want to wait a week. people are also saying that they will be nerfed. so they buy them for more than they are worth.

these are my answers

Very true about 50k not being that much but the people that are "rich" didn't get that way by being lazy and would very easily just go find these wonderful new collectors items but they also realize that they are so common that they will have very little value just like the collectors items.

They won't be nerfed, because ANet thought about these items before they were implemented. They are collector's value only, because the effects can be duplicated on other weapons. These simply have a "name".

I do agree though... people are charging and paying outrageous prices because they are "lazy". Personally, I'll wait and farm my own.

A.net didn't expect the items to suddenly rise in price, because collector items haven't.
They were wrong, though, and we pay for their mistakes in consternation. And gold.

Only a newb (who doesn't have enuff money) or a foll (he and his money are soon parted) woul dpay outrageous amounts for these items.

Basically they are collectors items with perfect upgrades added to them.

Something you could easilly make yourself by buying the upgrades and the collectors items from the collectors that have been available for months. Basiaclly they are paying for the green lettering.

Not sure how the new gold drops are going to affect the economy on weapons, but I have to think it will lower it to some degree. I am sure there wil be an influux of better upgrades, but not sure about the wepoans per se. Theyare dropping a lot, but most I have found have super high requirements and basically you have to slavage them. I have salvaged a couple nice bow strings 10/10 & 10/9 sunders I sold them for the old going rate before any dip occurs if it does.

But in terms of "value' I think you still have to value the green weapons at least what the best upgrade on them is worth. At least until there are a ton of them around. They are obviously VERY nice weapons but they are also pretty specific in nature.

NONE offer mods for all classes like the uber gold wapons (staffs/wand) do. They are magic specific just like the collectors.

So I am not sure how their existance is really going to hurt. I myself have an insightful smiting staf of enchanting already. +5 insightful and a +20% enchant wrap put on the smite collector staff. Base weapon I got for free (obviously) and I slavaged the two items. IMO it is the best weapon a solo monk can carry. Value? Who knows, the upgrades are/were worth about 125-150K. The look? Common. But in terms of actually useage and practicality, there isn't a better staff than that for a smite monk. I have yet to see a monk (green) like it drop, and have not seen any listed on any sites. I have to assume that the boss that will drop it it actualy inside the furnace and peple are simply only farming the footprint. I have to assume Gulnar Irontoe carries it. Since there have been drops from the other monk bosses and they are not smite smite based, but pro/heal/div, yet the require a divine overall, which is not what a lot of monks have their points in, so not sure how practical they are. Plus they also all have FIRE damage, while the collector staff has LIGHTening damage. WHich penetrates armor which does quite a bit more damage (when you attack with staff) that a fire based attack will.

But basically green items are suped up collectors. Of course it might be nice to carry one around for looks, but in terms of using them I haven't seen one yet that is better than any of the gold wepaond my 4 toons carry right now.

Ummmm Lightning damage on a staff has no armor penetration. Someone has been feeding you bad information.
